2020 was a year rife with occurrences no one could have envisioned. In addition to ongoing contract work supporting solopreneurs/small business owners as they pivoted and powered on despite measures imposed on essential and non-essential businesses, I embarked on extensive personal/professional development.
The comprehensive concern for well-being was paramount, leading me to institute self-care as a business strategy. Working with a Health Coach on two occasions, I start each week prioritizing workouts and blocking those appointments for myself on my calendar.
I had chosen “spark” as my word for 2020, and after the COVID-19 pandemic arrived in the U.S., I was not sure how it made sense moving forward for 2020. I floundered with the meaning as the year progressed, and citizens around the Globe were distressed.
Then came the video of the officer in blue murdering George Floyd. Now “spark” made sense. Not only is my awareness of social justice sparked, but my advocacy ignited. My most important work for 2020 has been embarking on a journey as a white woman to learn about whiteness and systemic racism.
